Free Download: One for the people Presented by Blame. Ive been wanting to make a hip hop mix that is uplifting (in my opinion) and something enjoyable for me and my children while we are driving around. I asked for suggestions on twitter and put several of those on the mix (thank you!) but they are all songs that I personally enjoy as well. I could have made 10 volumes with all the suggestions but this is what I started with. I put everything on one mp3 because I think its something to be enjoyed as a collective and not skipped through like fast food music. You may have some or all of these songs but together they make a great listen. Some of you may not like some of these artists but give it a shot. Im pretty sure you will feel better afterwards. P.S. im no dj.. this is just simply bringing in and out songs at the end of each track. Dont worry about hating on artist that you dont approve of or if its mainstream or underground.. good lord.. just enjoy the music. haha! Just under an hour of positive music to help you get through your day. Tracklisting:
1. Keep your head up- 2Pac
2. Fly (song of Liberation)- Blu & Exile
3. Love- Ghostface Killah

Audio Art and its ever changing mediums..Endurance
When I decided to make my next album “ENDURANCE” I already knew that I was going to release the project independently. My next concern was what mediums to release it on. My choice was going to be vinyl and Mp3 only. For those that know me personally, I dont even need to explain the reasoning behind this. For those that dont, Im a vinyl head. A die hard vinyl head. Here is a picture of one part of my room

Im not just just talking old gems either. I have purchased fashawn, strong arm steady, roc marciano and many more all on vinyl in recent times. Without the steady income of a 9 to 5 I made the choice to not release the vinyl. Was far too expensive and with recent revelation signs such as the mecca of hip hop vinyl (fat beats) closing both the NYC AND LA stores, I had made up my mind. I surely didnt want a stack of vinyl sitting in my living room. Cats always tell me they are down for vinyl and I ask them what they have purchased as far as modern hip hop recently and shit always turns to crickets fast.
I had requests/complaints from fans about pressing/not pressing CDs. Let me start by saying that I have always viewed CDs as a temporary medium. I never liked them. They scratch too easy. Break too easy. The only thing they are good for is the credits and artwork. If some of the digital retailers would step up thier game and allow full blown art/credits, it would eliminate that problem. I can sit my vinyl around the same way I do CDs and they all play perfectly fine. I do that with a CD and the shit is toast in a week. Sorry my CD lovers, just my opinion. I remember going into the warehouse when cassettes were going out of style and CD’s were coming in and im assuming its the same type of feeling for you die hard CD collectors. With that said, I believe CD’s are definitely on thier way out as well. The few mainstream places that do sell them like bestbuy or target have been rapidly decreasing stock every time I browse.
Remember when serato was becoming popular? I hated it. But guess what happened? All my favorite old school die hard vinyl DJ’s started using it. The argument went on for about a year but serato won, its now the norm. Hip hop has always given us an option to move with the times and continue to be part of a culture or be stuck in an era. As much as my music itself has always shown love for all the eras I have been through, Im here to stay.. even now. My hope is that CDs do go out of style and the collectors medium of choice goes back to vinyl. Its still by far the most impressive in my opinion and the sound is like no other. So there you have it. Endurance is a digital release. You can be mad and miss out on some great music or support. Choice is yours. PS if someone wants to press vinyl????? HOLLA!! And for those who want to talk shit… ive made cassettes, vinyl and CDs many times on my own and out of my own pockets. Save it. Good Music is good music, regardless of the medium.
Today I heard some news that ive been hearing alot lately, another legend had passed. RAMMELLZEE. When these type of figures pass, it always hits me the closest to home. Not only was RAMMELLZEE an early pioneer as an emcee, he was also an early graff legend and later came up with an insanely unique style in the visual arts. Its cats like this, who people tend to forget (or are far too young to understand) have had a HUGE impression on the culture and especially its freedom within. You cant describe this man in simple words but for the younger generations sake I will say he was a cross between basquiat, kool keith, mf doom and a transformer all in one. got it? Well, lets just say innovative is not a bright enough term to describe the man. When I was 10 years old in 1985 living in baltimore (edgewood to be exact) cats were dancing on street corners, music was being played out of radios on the front porch and graffiti was considered a crime you could basically ignore. I remember the older folks telling all of us that this culture was just a phase or fad and that it would soon pass. I knew in my heart even back then, they had know idea why we the youth were embracing it with such passion and love. It was like nothing else, and to those who understood all aspects of it and had the older cats giving us a helping hand to understand it….it was like a secret society. When I was around 15 and I noticed someone at the bus stop with paint on their fingertips, i knew what was in the backpack they had on. I would walk up to them and say “what do you write?” Any graff artist was hesitant to give out that kind of info but were usually pretty good at feeling out who was genuine. It was always exciting to meet another writer or emcee, etc. Back to RAMMELLZEE! Its cats like this man that I have mentioned who gave us that initial feeling that this culture was going absolutely nowhere but into the future. I will never forget that feeling as long as I live. God Bless you and the art you have given to the world.

A little Blame One feat. Aloe blacc prod by DJ Day anyone?
Take a sec to think back. This album is so official its not even funny. The teacher set it off with my philosophy and no matter what you think about KRS and his crazy ideas to start a hip hop city. This album is amazing. The rock loop on ya slippin! How come not many rhyme over rock loops anymore? They sound so raw! Im still #1, the bass on T’cha…. Freestyle fellowship said “where in the hell did the hip hop go?” Id like to think part of it went in what I do today. But if I ever want to find it for sure, I can always take a trip back in time and pull out gemz like this. Give it a listen if you havent for a while….
